Evictions in Michigan District Courts proceed under the Summary Proceedings Act (MCL 600.5701 et seq.) and MCR 4.201.

Form DC 111 & Statutory Redemption

Tenants use State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) Form DC 111 (Answer, Nonpayment of Rent). Even if a judgment for possession is entered against a tenant for nonpayment, Michigan law provides an absolute 10-day statutory redemption period: if the tenant pays the judgment balance within 10 days, the judgment is satisfied and no writ of eviction can issue.
